A certified Senior Home Safety Specialist walks through the home room by room, identifies what could cause a fall or an injury, and delivers a written report that says what to fix first.
Not ready for that? Book a fifteen-minute call to ask questions about the process.
One visit, one report, and a clear list of what matters most.
Ben Couch, a certified Senior Home Safety Specialist, visits the home and works through more than 340 checkpoints room by room, photographing anything that needs attention. Family can be there for it or not.
A written report arrives as a PDF, printed on request. Every finding includes what the hazard is, why it matters, and what to do about it, sorted into what to handle now, soon, and eventually.
The report is yours. Rookstone does not sell products, install equipment, or take a referral fee from anyone who does. You choose what to act on and who does the work.
I do not sell modifications, installations, or placements, and I take no fee from anyone I recommend. If the report says you need something, it is because you need it.
What you get is a plan for making the house work: each finding with a recommendation attached, sorted so you know what to handle now and what can wait. Abilities change over time, and a house can be changed to keep up with them.
Where the house has limits that work will not solve, the report says so plainly. That is a real answer too, and it is one families deserve to hear from someone with nothing riding on it.
That is also why case managers, elder law attorneys, and placement professionals are comfortable sending families here. There is no placement agenda on either side of the question.
Not a checklist printout. A structured document with a plain-language summary at the front, the critical findings laid out one at a time, a room-by-room record, and a prioritized plan sorted into what to handle now, soon, and eventually.
Findings are recorded as observations of the home, each with a recommendation attached. Rookstone does not certify compliance with any code or standard.
It arrives as a PDF, printed on request, and it is yours to keep, act on, and forward to whoever else in the family needs to see it.
A home that is safe for someone with intact memory is not necessarily safe for someone without it. The stove, the water temperature, the doors, the medications, and the stairs all mean something different once cognition is involved.
More than fifty-five additional checkpoints are added to the walkthrough, covering exits and wandering, hazard control, orientation and wayfinding, perception, and the bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom as the person actually uses them.
It is not sold on its own, because it depends on what the main walkthrough finds. If memory loss is part of your situation, say so on the first call and Ben will scope it with you then.
Agreed before the visit. No hourly billing, no products sold to you afterward, and no referral fees taken from anyone who does the work.
Added to the assessment when memory loss is part of the picture. Not sold separately, because it builds on the findings from the main walkthrough.
Who does the assessment
Senior Home Safety Specialist®, Age Safe America
Ben has spent twenty-five years in senior living. He directed national training for one of the country's largest operators, across more than eighty communities in twenty-three states, and the programs he built taught caregivers how to keep older adults safe in the buildings they lived in.
He wrote the dementia curriculum those communities trained on. The caregivers working their memory care floors learned from material he developed alongside the company's memory care specialists and clinical staff. That is the background behind the memory review, and it is the part a checklist cannot supply.
Rookstone applies the same discipline to the house someone already calls home. Every assessment is done by Ben personally. There are no subcontractors and no rotating staff.
Rookstone serves Tucson, Oro Valley, Marana, and the surrounding Pima County communities.
Tell us a little about the situation and Ben will get back to you within one business day. There is no charge and no obligation for the first conversation.
